0z Model Guidance Track

We have another shift to the west in the 0Z track guidance. My south MS friends should be aware. We are not out of the woods. This is subject to change(most likely will), but something to consider and watch closely. We should always be prepared.

Latest Track for TS Isaac

Isaac did not lose much intensity as it passed over Haiti last night(only 10 mph). It is now currently around 60mph. This current track has Isaac flirting with the top of Cuba, which means more chances for strengthening . The NHC does expect Isaac to become a hurricane in about 36 hours. The conditions for strengthening are favorable as it makes its way into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. As of right now, the current track has Isaac making landfall as a Cat1(keep in mind there is the possibility of it being stronger) between Pensacola and Panama City early Wednesday morning. This track is still subject to change and should be watched closely. Always be prepared.

Happy National Weatherperson's Day!!

Today is National Weatherperson's day. It was started to honor John Jeffries.  Jeffries was born on February 5, 1744, and was one of America's first weather observers.  He took the first weather balloon observations in 1784. National Weatherperson's day is a day to recognize all men and women who work hard to keep us safe and informed about the weather each day. Thank you to all of my weather geeks out there! Proud to be a part of the team!

Goodbye January 2012

This graphic shows that January 2012 had the third most tornadoes on record dating back to 1955.  The warm weather we have been experiencing around the region was the perfect ingredient for the tornadic activity this month.
